5 Reasons Why Qatar Should Not Host The World Cup
Quatar World Cup Bid
Ok you can call me cynical, but the new evidence of corruption uncovered by the British newspaper, The Times is actually quite timely. Controversy has surrounded Qatar's World Cup award for 2022 when it was announced in 2010.
Have the relevant authorities realised that this is a totally unsuitable venue? There is still 8 years to reverse this ill- fated decision.2022 failed bidders Japan and Australia will have time to build new stadia and facilities.
1.Climate
It has been well documented that the heat and humidity in the small desert country of Qatar is totally unsuitable for a summer football tournament. It is hard to imagine that any player or athlete would look forward to competing in 35 degree heat. supporters would also suffer having to endure such humid conditions.
It has been mooted the competition could be organised for a winter schedule, but this would not suit the money generating tournaments from the leading football nations or FIFA'S own money spinner,The Champions League.
2 Corruption and Bribery.
It has been a long held belief that Mohamed Bin Hammam had bribed FIFA officials and their corrupt cronies to land the 2022 World Cup and now The Times has evidence in the form of e-mails and accounts linked to the Qatari former FIFA vice-president Hamman.
The greedy and corrupt FIFA organisation has a lot to answer for,Lord Triesman, the former FA and England 2018 chairman, had named many FIFA committee members of "improper and unethical" behaviour after England had failed to land their bid to host the 2018 World Cup.The accusations range from asking for knighthoods,TV rights and the building of an education centere in Trinidad.
Claims were also made that $1.5m was paid to FIFA executive committee members Issa Hayatou and Jacques Anouma who voted for the Qatar bid.

3 Qatar Laws
Qatar is a sovereign country and have every right to expect all visitors to respect their laws and traditions.
It is accepted that shoulders knees should be covered and low cut tops are a no no, as is see through material. It is acceptable to wear leggings underneath skirts if they do not cover the knees.
For men shorts should cover the knees and clothes in general should be respectful and not have rude or inappropriate slogans or images.
Bathing suits and bikinis can be worn around pool areas, but not whilst walking around in public areas.
Public displays of affection are also frowned upon, so I don't know what they will make of the modern footballer's celebration!
4 Treatment Of Migrant Workers
Many people who have worked in the oil and gas industries will have been paid good money for their knowledge and skills, but this is not so for the migrant construction workers- they get paid an average of £100 (600 riyals) a month.
Construction companies use the Kafala system where the workers are exploited by the employers who sponsor their visas. Workers are lured there under false pretences and on arrival they have their passports confiscated and found they have been lied to about their salary and conditions.
Workers will typically:
- work an 18 hour day.
- made to work in Qatar’s 45 degree summer temperatures despite it being against the country’s labour laws to work in the summer between 11.30am and 3pm.
- sleep 10-15 in small, dilapidated rooms in run-down worker accommodation camps.
- go unpaid by employers for six months at a time and many are prevented from actually leaving the country for months on end.
Already 200 migrant workers have died during the construction of the stadiums, and there is still 8 years to go!

5 Football
Football will be a real loser if Qatar stage the 2022 World Cup, FIFA is already tarnished. As soon as the announcement was made that Qatar would hold the biggest tournament in world football (they have no football history, no real stadiums and only 14 professional teams) we all knew it was a terrible decision and corruption was at the helm of it.
Football players, football fans, football associations, football writers all know that Qatar should not hold the World cup for its human right's violations, and its treatment of migrant workers.Football's world governing body (FIFA) has now brought this to the attention of the world.
Should Qatar Host 2022 World Cup
Should Qatar Host 2022 World Cup
The World Cup ,Who Cares
There will be calls for all Nations to boycott Qatar 2022, but this is unlikely to happen as there is too much money at stake, and too many global companies involved, and FIFA are just another multi national company in another form. They have their own rules.
I don't believe that there will be any reform of FIFA, certainly not while Blatter heads the regime. It will take serious outside intervention.
The whole selection process for hosting the World Cup is a complete farce, future votes need to be ethical and clearly transparent
I do believe that Qatar will host the 2022 World Cup because no official establishment will have the determination to overturn FIFA'S ruling. We all recognise there is corruption, but as usual they will look the other way.
So who really cares that 22 millionaires are running around after a plastic ball ,cheating their way to glory and a pay day, just like their governing body.Who cares where the world Cup is held. It might as well be presented by Mickey Mouse, and that is what this prestigious tournament will become, with the present corrupt regime calling the shots.
